Acer Launches Happy 2 Netbook Series in India

Acer has launched a new netbook series in India called the Aspire One Happy 2. The new range starting from Rs.15,749, will be available shortly across the country. Acer is targeting the youth, in general with the Happy 2 series, and with good reason, too. The netbooks will come in four fruity colors with a candy gloss finish, so if you are an attention hog, then it will go well with your personality. This will certainly appeal to young girls, college kids and probably Pee-wee Herman.

But, underneath all that candy coating lies some serious horse-power. The Happy 2 is powered by an Intel N570 Atom dual core processor that powers Windows 7 Starter and Android. The netbook can dual boot between the two operating systems depending on your needs. Other features include a 10.1-inch screen, 1GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. It’s quite light as well weighing in at just 1.25kg. Finally, the bundled battery promises 8hrs of battery life, which is fairly good (if true) for a days worth of work.

Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse Looks Alluring

Every one out there seems to like caressing the Touch Mouse offered from the Microsoft. Of course it is an exciting product, but let us also try and you’re your attention on yet another interesting mouse artifact from the company. The new mouse, referred to as the ‘Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse’ seems absolutely interestingly.

From the pictures  we have with us, we tend to think you would more likely choose the celebrity ‘Touch mouse’ or ‘Arc Touch mouse’ by appearance. But as they say, you needn’t judge book just by its cover. Now that makes us tell you more on the new ‘Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse’.

Guys at Pocket-Lint feel that the gadget works on company’s trademark BlueTrack Technology, that makes it adapt to read and track positioning on pretty much any surface. The new mouse comes equipped with five customizable buttons, which can be configured for right or left-hand use.
Further, it employs the very same tactile touch scroll pad akin to what the Arc Touch mouse features. A unique feedback vibration is part of it, which can be turned off as per need. We guess the device will be ready around the end of July and could sell for £69.99 in the UK.

Acer’s New C110 Pico-Projector is USB Powered and ‘Android Ready’

Pico-projectors are handy little gadgets that come to the rescue when you have that spur of the moment presentation to deliver. Although they haven’t caught on too well in our country, this scenario may just change with their new C110 projector. What sets this apart from the rest is that it doesn’t require a power adapter and is powered solely through USB, either from a laptop or any Android Tablet provided it has a USB host port.

Don’t take its size as a sign of weakness though, this DLP projector is powered by a LED lamp and can project up to a 100-inch screen. The brightness is a bit low at just 50 lumens, so you’ll need as little to no ambient light as possible for a good picture. The projector weighs just 175g and sports a very nice 1280x800 resolution. The C110 is expected to be sold at a little over $300 when it releases in August and even though we don’t have an India launch confirmed yet, it should make its way here since the ICONIA A500 is already out and they both complement each other very well as you can see in the video.

Acer AC700 Chromebook up on Market Shelves

Google gets another tablet to run its Chrome OS. In fact, The Acer AC700 is the second laptop designed to run Google’s Chrome OS.

The slate is a little late in hitting the shelves, as it was initially scheduled for a June launch, along with the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook. The Acer Chromebook is cheaper than Samsung’s model, but features similar specs.
The slate packs 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB solid state disks just like in Samsung models. The difference is in their screen size with Acer having 11.6 inch display instead of Samsung’s 12.1 inch screen.

Keyloggers in Samsung Laptops, Officials says - Samsung laptops are in fact secure !

We'll start by saying that we've reached out to Samsung for a response here, but as of now, no reply has been given -- neither a confirmation nor a refusal of truth. Why bother mentioning that? If this here story proves true, Sammy could have a serious problem on its hands -- a problem that'll definitely start with a rash of negative PR, and a quandary that could very well end the outfit up in the courtroom. According to a report by Mohamed Hassan over at Network World, Samsung allegedly took the initiative to install a keylogger into his recently purchased R525 and R540 laptops. The app was noticed right away after a security scan on both systems, with StarLogger popping up with the c:\windows\SL directory. 



Where things really get strange is on the support line; reportedly, a supervisor informed Mr. Hassan (after an earlier denial) that the company did indeed install the software at the factory in order to "monitor the performance of the machine and to find out how it is being used." Unfortunately, it's difficult to say if this is a widespread issue, or if the tale is entirely correct, but we get the feeling that Samsung will have little choice but to respond in some form or fashion here shortly. Naturally, we'll keep you abreast of the situation -- meanwhile, you may want to reconsider that hate-filled comment you're about to bang out on your Samsung laptop, and instead, feast your eyes on the video just past the break.


Statement By Samsung Officials :The statements that Samsung installs keylogger on R525 and R540 laptop computers are false.
Our findings indicate that the person mentioned in the article used a security program called VIPRE that mistook a folder created by Microsoft’s Live Application for a key logging software, during a virus scan.

The confusion arose because VIPRE mistook Microsoft's Live Application multi-language support folder, "SL" folder, as StarLogger.

(Depending on the language, under C:\windows folders "SL" for Slovene, "KO" for Korean, "EN" for English are created.)
